Beautiful Inside and Out!

You've gotta love models who do charity work! Yay for the Mode Models agency, which had their models (including superstars Heather Marks and Johanna Stickland, and newcomer Kastyn Reid) walk at a charity fashion show called Bella, which promotes women's health, this past Saturday back in Calgary. The girls (and boys) wore outfits by top designers like Marc Jacobs, Prada, and Chanel.

And speaking of fashion charity...the plaster-cast breasts made by Lily Cole, for the Comic Relief foundation, sold on Ebay for £113.11!

Kinda a strange concept, but it's okay because we love Lily...she does charity and she's pretty, AND she's a super-cute brainiac too.

She's a Jem.

Caroline Trentini in W Korea April, channeling Jem and looking extremely gorgeous.

The same? Yes/no?

And my very newest favorite model, Erin Heatherton, who was amazing this past season at a number of shows, including Christian Lacroix and Michael Kors:

Red Carpet Meets Mass: Sarah Jessica Rolls Dice With Steve & Barry's Deal

Thursday, March 22, 2007

By Sharon Edelson with contributions by Amy Wicks

There's Target and Isaac, H&M and Madonna, Reebok and Scarlett— and now Steve & Barry's and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Steve & Barry's, a 200-unit chain specializing in university logo sweatshirts and licensed clothing mostly priced under $10 from Marvel Comics and Coors, among others, landed red-carpet icon Parker for her own collection of apparel, footwear and accessories. It is the latest, and possibly most audacious, example of fashion democracy.

Okay. You have NO idea how happy this makes me. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love SJP. And anyone who REALLY knows me, knows that my favorite t-shirt ever is FROM STEVE & BARRY'S (it says "lucky number 13" - cool right?). So yeah. Fate? It must be.

The Beauty AND the Brains.

Cameron Russell has got it all. She's placed with Ford Models in NYC and has starred in campaigns for Cavlin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Armani, and many many more. Cameron has also had the chance to walk down international runways for designers like Zac Posen, Prada, and Marc Jacobs! But gorgeous isn't the only thing she's got going for her - she's also REALLY smart. Currently attending Wellesley College, Cameron will be graduating in 2010, and has put her modeling career on the back-burner while she works hard in school.

Full Name: Cameron Russell

Age: 19

Height: 5’ 10”

Where are you from? Cambridge

Where do you live now? In between university in Cambridge and work in New York

Favorite show (that you've done)? The show I remember most vividly is probably Calvin Klein. It was the first show I ever did and I had never walked in heels before. I practiced a couple times with the designer and the casting director before the show.

Favorite photo shoot (that you've done)? I’ve done so many shows and photo shoots it’s really hard to say. I just came back from shooting the H&M summer campaign in Australia. When it was over I had an extra four days before my next job so I stayed with some of the surfer kids they had cast and learned how to surf.

Describe your personal style: Well I want to preface this by saying that models are given loads of clothing so I can only take credit for choosing a couple of my clothes and then the rest I just pull on. I love to be laid back in jeans and baggy sweater but I love skirts too. My favorite shoes are my Micheal Kors black motorcycle boots so anything I can pair with them…When I’m not someplace I’m going to be photographed I love crazy costumes. I have a black and white striped jail suit and number of fake glasses.

Did you complete school (or are you finishing school now)? Right now I’m working on getting a bit of college done. Modeling is very absorbing and it’s hard to balance school and work, but it’s what I’m trying to do!

If you weren't modeling, what would you like to be doing? I’d be in school but with a lot more time on my hands. I’d probably write a lot more than I do now. With modeling and school it took me nearly a year to publish my blog, funnyandinteresting.com, and now I’m hoping I have enough time to update it.

Top 5 bands/artists:
- Manu Chao
- Carla Bruni
- Yoyo Ma
- Talking Heads
- Mahalia Jackson

Top 5 movies:
- The Wizard of Oz
- Modesty Blaze
- Garden State
- Fresa y Chocolate
- The Big Lebowski

Favorite book: One Hundred Years of Solitude, and anything by Updike

What's your drink of choice? Recently I’ve become addicted to green tea. My favorite is genmai-cha, a brown rice green tea.

What are some of the perks of being a top model? Getting to travel is the one everyone says but it’s true. Just when you think you’re getting tired of flying over to paris every week you go and have a fabulous time and think how lucky you are. The people are wonderful to work with. And, obviously, the salary is what keeps everyone doing it. But really what modeling does is open a number of doors that young people normally don’t have access to.

What are some of the things about being a model that are most difficult? It is an industry where you have very little control over what happens to you. For the most part you don’t get to pick your jobs and unlike in other fields no matter how hard you work you still may be gone tomorrow. But modeling is a wonderful opportunity and really whatever downsides there may be are definitely made up for

These 5 were a mistake.

HATED shows from runway season FW07.

1. Alexandre Herchcovitch - New York

Rachel Alexander is LITERALLY WEARING A GARBAGE BAG. I don't think I need to say anything else, do I?

2. Comme de Garcons - Paris

I don't think this collection knew if it was like...pajamas, or something for a 5 year old to wear on Halloween. Absolutely dreadful, really. Tacky, sloppy, and not something anyone in their right mind would wear unless they were going to recieve buckets of candy in return.

3. Viktor & Rolf - Paris

The Viktor & Rolf shows are always one big mindfuck. You go into them NEVER knowing what to expect. Each collection is seriously different from the last, and this season was no exception. The clothes weren't awful, I suppose, but the presentation was insane - come on, you can't expect a tinsy-tiny model in high-heeled clogs to carry steel poles and lighting on her back! But alas, that is what these girls did. With a distraction like that, who could even pay attention to the clothing?

4. John Galliano - Paris

I don't care that John Galliano is supposed to be the God of all things fashion. This is heinous.

5. (TIE) Valentino - Paris, and D&G - Milan

Whoever thought that leopard print was back in style was seriously deranged.

Gemma's back in town.

So our most favorite absentee from New York and Milan FINALLY showed up in Paris to appear in a number of shows - Lanvin, Miu Miu, Chloe, Hermes, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Givenchy, Karl Lagerfeld, Valentino, Balenciaga, Christian Dior, and Jean Paul Gaultier. Not bad, not bad at all!

But what do you guys think? Back and better than ever, or what? Personally I think she looks good...she's slimmed down since the last time we saw pictures of her that weren't in a magazine, which can't be a bad thing. I do think she's pushing her luck though, with the movies...but I suppose we'll see! "Strangers", the movie where Gemma appears alongside Liv Tyler, is going to be releasing around Halloween.
Very sadly, one of the 2 best time of the year is coming to a close, the season of the Fall/Winter collections.

I will be honest with you - this season was highly dissapointing to me. Maybe I'm just too...traditional? But this season felt like it was pushes the boundaries in a way that even fashion shouldn't do. Either way, here is my favorite 5 shows, and my 5 most hated:

FAVORITES.

1. Christian Lacroix - Paris

Honestly just one of the most freaking gorgeous collections I have ever seen. Sort of biker-chic-esque, but yet clean-cut and filled with random splashes of beautiful color later in the show.

2. Anna Molinari - Milan

Style.com said it best about this one: "...Keeping it tough, dark, short, and at all times, belted."

3. Temperley - New York

Gah...SO pretty. Incredible use of color, extremely wearable, and feminine (although some of the gorgeous minidresses were paired with some pretty questionably badass boots...)

4. Bill Blass - New York

Even though this picture doesn't show it, the Bill Blass show was also filled with some amazingly vibrant colors, that are a little rare to the FW collections. However, this picture DOES show one of the sexy mermaid-like dresses that appeared. Angelina Jolie wore Bill Blass on the January cover of Vogue, and if that doesn't scream "Um hi I'm a fabulous designer," then I don't know what does - wait, no, this collection says the same thing.

5. Luella Bartley - New York

Luella can really do no wrong, I think. Every season I'm amazed by how much I love her collections. Plus - this season, Angela Lindvall opened the show, and hey I basically love her. Anyways, the British/military vibe was spot on, and masculine, yes, but in a way that felt sexy.

HATES SHOWS COMING TOMORROW. Stay tuned!

I Scream for Suzanne.

My newest model addiction, Suzanne Diaz, is rocking the runways this season. She had to skip out on part of Milan but that hasn't hurt her game at all. Suzanne is with Women in NYC, and although she's been around for a few seasons, her big break came last season when she walked for 40 shows including D&G, Mochino, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and more.

Full Name: Suzanne Diaz

Age: 18

Height: 5'9 1/2

Where are you from? From Water Mill, NY...the Hamptons!

Where do you live now? Now I live in NYC, Lower East Side.

Favorite show (that you've done)? I don't know! Actually maybe Prada just because it was the first big one I did.

Favorite photoshoot (that you've done)? Numero with Sofia and Mauro and Japanese Vogue with Corrine Day - she is awesome.

Did you complete school (or are you finishing school now)? Yes I completed high school.

If you weren't modeling, what would you like to be doing? If not modeling, I would like to be dancing (ballet or other).
Top 5 bands/artists:
- Max Barbaria (my boyfriend's music)
- Ghostface
- Sally Shapiro
- Bob Dylan
- David Bowie
- The Knife
- Madonna

Top 5 movies: I don't know theres too many! But recently I saw 2 amazing movies in theatres - Pan's Labyrinth, and Children of Men which is an important movie that everyone should see, I think.

What's your drink of choice? Lemonade.

What are some of the perks of being a top model? Traveling all over, working with creative people, wearing and sometimes getting amazing clothes, making good money (haha), meeting models and other people in the business from all over the world!

What are some of the things about being a model that are most difficult? Castings, being away from my family, missing my boyfriend, not being able to plan things because lots of bookings come up last minute.
